| A ferrets home is it's castle!! |
Well, when I decided to add another ferret to the
family I encountered a couple of problems!
Firstly, when I went to "look at" the ferret I a)
fell in love with him and b) was reluctant not to
take him straight away as he wasn't being cared
for properly. So of course I brought him straight
home with me. I already had two jill ferrets
(Baby & Bear) neither of which were spayed. When
Fat Bob was introduced he immediately decided that
they needed to mate!! I had to keep them separate
until I could get the girls jill-jabbed and Bob
castrated. Then once they had all settled down
and were getting on ok I had to think of the cage
situation. I had an indoor rabbit hutch which the
girls stayed in whilst I was out and when I am
home they get the run of the house. I went and
looked at cages and was amazed at how extortionate
the prices were. So being quite practical I got
the local Trade-It and found a ferret cage for
fifteen pounds and a length of 6 inch diameter
plastic pipe and joined the two cages together.
Now the three of them have great fun chasing each
other through the pipe to the play/toilet area or
back up to the food/sleeping area! They have far
more fun in that than they would have in a
featureless manufactured cage so being a little
inventive and trying to save some cash paid off!!
My next project is to add a junction to the pipe
and then add 20 metres of flexible ground drainage
pipe all round the room to extend their fun!!
